Several students studying at UNC
Charlotte have started internships with EnQue. The IT program at UNC
Charlotte encourages students to get real world experience through this method.
Some past projects that several students have worked on include development of
a back end systems for subscribing to web services. The demo for this system is
the www.EnQue.info web site.
Pranjali Patel, a deans list and Master of Science in Information Technology
student, is working on a web statistics application. This project gathers
information from web site transactions and inserts it into a database where it
is analyzed for various patterns and marketing information. Although there are
a number of statistics packages commercially available the design and
development of this system is intended to provide the means to expand the
analysis capabilities by integrating additional systems. One such system is
geographical location by country without the overhead of reverse DNS entry
lookup. This adjunct system can itself be used for a number of other
applications such as anti-fraud, network planning, and target marketing based
on country.
Majid Anwar, a deans list and Master of Science in Information Technology
student, is integrating an ecommerce web database to a backoffice system using
XML web services. This project requires a secure communications link between
the backoffice system and the web site. One of the requirements of the
backoffice application, which is also under development, is to generate the
necessary documents to conduct business. The overall plan is that the
information system manages critical data in the backoffice systems while
creating as much of a paperless office as possible. Therefore, the actual
documents generated are for emailing and/or faxing from the backoffice system
and not to actually generate paper.
Sawsan Aleryani, a Master of Science in Information Technology student, is
developing the initial shipping and tracking module used for ecommerce
applications. This system is being designed to allow integration with multiple
carriers to perform rate requests, shipping document generation, and shipment
tracking. The first planned carrier is FedEx and others include the US Postal
Service, UPS, and DHL. This module will be used in several information channels
while doing ecommerce. First, during checkout on a web site the actual shipping
charges will be calculated, and secondly, for backoffice operations the
shipping documents are generated and the tracking numbers are emailed to the
customers as well as tracked for delivery information for archival purposes.

Administration departments and are interested in pursuing an internship with
